RE: Candlelight Vigil for Stephon Smith (20)

We lost another young man near his home late one afternoon. Another young child will never know her father. Stephon’s family loved him. His family loved his smile and his spirit.
They are devastated and are searching for answers to why this happened and who killed their son, brother and the father of a young girl. They are asking the police to please answer their calls for information. They are pleading with the detectives to listen to their concerns.
Join us as we come together to remember another life cut short by the utterly senseless killings that are taking place in the war in Cleveland.

RE: Candlelight Vigil for Ernest F. Levert (22)

Another young man was ambushed and his life ended by cowards. There’s a war on our streets with shots being fired from moving cars, and others hiding in the camouflage of the hardscape of a city.
Now his family and friends will come together to remember Ernest Levert, who was only 22 when he was killed by the cowards spraying bullets.
Ernest was part of a huge, loving family. He was a gifted athlete who participated in a number of sports, including track.
Join us as we try to bring a small amount of comfort to each other as we remember Ernest Levert, whose life was cut short.

RE: Door locked in the face of a woman who was being threatened

Woman Denied Assistance
Woman Denied Safety
Man Being Beaten Half to Death.

We are scared but not too scared to stand up against violence.

Our neighborhood is scary and dangerous. We see so much violence and blood. We are afraid, but not too scared to stand up against violence for our children, our elderly and ourselves. There will be a rally of hundreds to protest on East 140 & St. Clair at the gas station on that corner.
What goes on around that gas station is microcosm of what goes on in that neighborhood. It’s not pretty. We see people shot, beaten up, and disrespected far too often.
The latest incident was a young man who was beaten half to death while a pistol was held to the head of his girlfriend. She broke loose and ran to the gas station where the door was locked leaving her defenseless against the onslaught. She was barred from safety.
The people are tired. They will join with the families of the victims and residents of the neighborhood, along with community organizations, to protest the seemingly uncaring persons who were in the gas station and locked the door.
